Christian Education

Folks in Tulsa, Oklahoma have lots of things they can do with their time. Time is, after all, a gift we can use in a variety of ways. One of the ways in which we minister to the folks who live in Tulsa and surrounding communities and other Tulsa Christian Churches involves our Christian Education program. A wise man once said, “Faith seeks understanding.” Presbyterians have taken that to heart for centuries. John Knox Presbyterian Church offers a variety of educational experiences to the Tulsa community and beyond. We hope to offer something for everyone.

On Sunday mornings John Knox Presbyterian Church, one of many Tulsa Presbyterian Churches,  offers a variety of classes for people of all ages and interests.

• We have one class for kindergarteners and 1st graders.
• We have another class for 2nd graders through 6th graders.
• We also have a class for junior high and senior high students.

In each of these classes, we use a lectionary-based curriculum that covers the scriptures that Pastor Jeff and Pastor Steve will read and preach during worship. We do that to reinforce the lessons of scripture in both an educational and worship setting.

John Knox Presbyterian Church, one of many Tulsa Presbyterian Churches, also offers adult classes. Pastor Steve teaches a class that covers chapter by chapter the Gospel he and Pastor Jeff will preach from during the year. In 2006 we will be studying Mark together. We also offer a Sunday school class that studies life transitions in the light of what scripture teaches.

Finally, on Wednesday nights John Knox Presbyterian Church offers Tulsa and surrounding communities a congregational program of Christian education and nurture for everyone from kindergarteners through adults. Our program is called LOGOS. This is a brand new part of John Knox Presbyterian Church’s Christian Education program, one of Oklahoma Presbyterian Churches, but it is a program that has been successful throughout the United States for forty years.
