One thing John Knox Presbyterian Church, one of many Tulsa county churches, does particularly well involves our mission work in Tulsa, Mississippi, Tennessee, and overseas. The members of this congregation have found a number of ways to become involved in the Tulsa community, Tulsa churches, and beyond. That shouldn’t surprise you. Presbyterians also believe in being a part of a larger, connectional church. That is why we have created a sister-church relationship with First-Trinity Presbyterian Church in Laurel, Mississippi. John Knox Presbyterian Church began that ministry as a response to Hurricane Katrina. We have been to Laurel once (October 2005), will return this spring (March 2006), and will continue to return to Laurel each year to participate in the ministries of compassion that First-Trinity Presbyterian Church carries out in Laurel.
The young people of John Knox Presbyterian Church, one of Tulsa county churches, also participate in our mission ministries. Each summer they go to Tennessee to participate in Mt. T.O.P. (Tennessee Outreach Project). In that ministry our young people repair the homes of the residents of the Cumberland Plateau.
