Tulsa Christian Churches
A Third Good Reason for Attending John Knox Presbyterian Church in Tulsa:
Youth Ministry
Folks in Tulsa, Oklahoma have lots of things they can do with their time. Time is, after all, a gift we can use in a variety of ways. So why should you come to John Knox Presbyterian Church, one of Tulsa Christian churches, on Sunday mornings? That is a fair question that deserves a good answer.
A great answer to that question involves John Knox Presbyterian Church’s program of youth ministry. We are a church family that wants everyone to be present and involved in our various ministries. That is why we ask our young people to serve as worship leaders on a regular basis.
Presbyterians also believe that each member has a responsibility to strengthen their congregation’s ministries. That is why each year we ask one young person to serve on the session as a youth elder and another young person to serve on the Board of Deacons.
John Knox Presbyterian Church, one of Tulsa Christian churches, also has a great Christian education program that serves the needs of our youth.
Our Junior High/Senior High class uses a lectionary-based curriculum that covers the scripture lessons our pastors will preach in worship after Sunday school. We do that because Presbyterians place a high emphasis on biblical and theological literacy and biblical preaching that strengthens worshippers’ faith. John Knox Presbyterian Church, one of many Tulsa Presbyterian Churches, does everything it can to strengthen the faith of its young people.
In addition, John Knox Presbyterian Church offers its young people and other young people in Tulsa a four-part, mid-week program of Christian education and nurture called LOGOS. We are currently in our first year of LOGOS, but the program has done a remarkable job of strengthening Christian faith in young people for more than forty years throughout the United States including Oklahoma Presbyterian churches and including other Tulsa Christian churches .
The four parts of our LOGOS program are
- Bible study
- recreation
- worship skills
- family time (a fellowship meal for teachers and students).
We complement our LOGOS program with Youth Fellowship on the weekends. YF activities include meals together, movies, ropes course outings, bowling, and many other activities throughout Tulsa and its surrounding communities.
Finally, we offer mission trip opportunities to our young people. John Knox Presbyterian Church’s young people will be participating in a mission trip to Laurel, Mississippi (March 2006) and go to Tennessee each summer to participate in Mt. T.O.P. (Tennessee Outreach Project). We hope you can see how much we value our young people and how intentional we are in making them our partners in ministry.
So when you are looking for a church among many Tulsa churches or Tulsa county churches where your children can grow in faith, serve God’s people, have a good time, and receive a warm welcome, think John Knox Presbyterian Church in Tulsa Oklahoma. See you on Sunday.
